David Owen from Holyhead was jailed for two years for carrying out brutal attack

A father who made his son watch as he choked and threatened to drown his partner in a “sustained attack” has been jailed for two years.
After being attacked by David Owen in Holyhead , Siobhan Daly ran into a nearby shop and cowered behind the counter, telling the business owner: "He is going to kill me.”
Owen, of Tan yr Efail, Holyhead, wept as he was sentenced at Caernarfon Crown Court today for the vicious attack on September 9.
The 45-year-old attacked Ms Daly by choking and punching her, leaving her bloodied, bruised and with a broken thumb.
He tried to force victim into bath and was 'going to drown her'
John Philpotts, prosecuting, said: “She had been in a relationship with Mr Owen for over a year and, at the time, shared a flat in Market Street, Holyhead.”
Mr Philpotts said the owner of the shop to which Ms Daly fled called the police, who found the victim in fear on the floor.
“She told officers her partner had been trying to throttle her but she managed to escape,” he said.
“He had tried to force Ms Daly into the bath and said he was going to drown her.”
The victim was taken to hospital with cuts to her head and bruising to her neck.
Owen forced young son to watch horror attack
The court heard that, during the attack, Owen forced his 12-year-old son to watch, punching Ms Daly on the side of the head as the youngster looked on in horror.
Police searched the house and found a large amount of blood on the stairs.
Mr Philpotts said: “There was a lot of blood on one banister in particular, where it appeared Ms Daly had clung on to stop Owen dragging her to the bathroom.”
In a victim impact statement, Ms Daly said she suffered “flashbacks” from the attack and had moved to Ireland.
She said she suffered particularly badly from “memories of his hands around her throat”.
Owen was 'visibly upset' and was 'extremely sorry'
John Wyn Williams, defending, said Owen, who appeared via video link, was “extremely sorry for what’s happened”.
He continued: “He is visibly upset. He knows he will face a custodial sentence.
“He finds being in custody difficult and has been in for three months. He’s extremely upset in relation to what happened.”
Sentencing Owen, Recorder Robert Britton said: “This is a very serious case which was extremely distressing for the victim.
“You have shown remorse for your actions. However, there is no alternative to a custodial sentence.
