Sally Smith launched attack on officers as they approached her concerned for her safety

A woman bit a police officer on the knee and claimed to be HIV positive during a struggle while she was arrested.
Sally Samantha Wood, 19, also scream abuse at officers, who had been concerned for her welfare.
She had been bleeding from her arm after smashing the window of an unoccupied house in the hope she and her boyfriend could sleep in it for the night.
When neighbours raised the alarm and police arrived, the pair fled through the back garden.
The police air support unit helicopter joined in the search and when Wood was approached because of the concern about the gash she had to her arm, she became abusive and violent.
Wood punched one officer and tried to claw at his eyes. She then called one policewoman names and told her she hoped she died.
She then bit the WPC on the knee, claimed she was HIV positive and threatened that she would rape the policewoman’s husband.
Leg restraints were placed on her and she was placed in a police van and taken to hospital, where she continued to be abusive.
In interview, she agreed that she had falsely said she had HIV which she accepted had been a disgusting thing to say in view of the fear that would cause to injured officers.
She had been drinking and was not used to alcohol.
Victoria Handley, defending, said that it was appreciated that it was a serious matter where all sentencing options would be considered, and said Wood was very apologetic.
Wood, who was staying at the nearby Sunray Hostel in Mold Road, Connah’s Quay, received a suspended youth custody sentence.
She admitted assaulting three officers in the execution of their duty, criminal damage to a house window in Howard Street, and a public order offence on the night of November 14.
District Judge Gwyn Jones said that her behaviour was “totally and utterly inappropriate”.
She had used significant force upon officers and the sentence would help her get the necessary skills to “think before you act”.
Wood received a 90 day sentence suspended for a year and was ordered to undergo 20 days of rehabilitation.
She was ordered to pay £100 each to three police officers “for the trauma she caused them” with £85 prosecution costs, an £80 surcharge and a £150 criminal courts charge.
