A VULNERABLE pensioner was the victim of a distraction burglary.
Wrexham rural police inspector Steve Owens is hunting two conmen who burgled a man aged 85 in Pont Yr Afon, Penycae, last week.
Insp Owens said: “It was around 11am and two ‘workmen’ turned up at his property to say they were doing work on his guttering.
“He was taken to the bottom of his garden while another entered the property and stole £200 in cash, more in pension cards and turned the place over.”
The incident took place on January 27, and Insp Owens has given descriptions of the men involved, who travelled in a blue van and grey car.
The first man was aged around 50, was 5ft 7ins, “with a belly”, clean shaven, wore glasses, a flat cap, and had a work ladder. The second male was aged around 30, with a rough looking beard, army combat style trousers and a thick jacket.
Anyone with any information about these suspects is urged to contact police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
