Arsonists attacked a children’s playground in Bagillt leaving a climbing frame in ruins.
Firefighters from Flint were called to the site at Bron y Wern, Bagillt at 7.05am on Sunday.
The crew found a large climbing frame and part of a hedge blazing.
North Wales Police have launched an investigation in a bid to catch the culprits after fire chiefs said the flames had been started deliberately.
A North Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said the flames were quickly extinguished but the apparatus was badly damaged.
The sturdy wooden framed apparatus includes a slide and a walkway and the wooden platform is completely burnt through.
Red and white tape has now been placed on the structure and it is out of use to children.
A parent of a child who lives in the area said: “Whoever did this doesn’t realise how much pleasure the kids round here get from this playground.
“It’s the beginning of half-term too and this is going to affect many children.”
