Flintshire,North Wales - Machete-wielding robbers attack staff in Flintshire post office raid

Two men stole thousands of pounds of cash and made off on a motorbike

Two armed robbers stormed into a post office and got away with thousands of pounds in cash.
They burst into the Saltney Ferry post office and shop at about 5pm last night, armed with a machete.
It is understood the owner-manager of the shop was hit over the head with a weapon and suffered cuts and bruisers.
According to local sources, while the robbers and the owner were in the back of the premises, a female customer entered and was forced to lie terrified on the floor as the robbers prepared to make their getaway.
They are said to have left on what was described as a "Harley Davidson-type" motorbike.

One man is said to have run into the road to stop traffic before jumping on to the bike to join the other and speeding away.
The bike is believed to have been found under a nearby footbridge.
It is hoped that CCTV cameras that are run by the town council may hold video evidence of the raid.
Local community leaders today expressed their shock at the incident.

Cllr Richard Lloyd
County Councillor Richard Lloyd said: "I’m very shocked at such a violent attack taking place in our village, but I’m relieved that the owner was not too badly hurt.
"They did hit him on the head with the machete, but luckily it must have been the blunt end."
It is understood that the bike the robbers used had been parked for some time in a car park close to some flats near the post office, and that the cash stolen - potentially up to £7,000 - had only recently been delivered to the premises.
A spokesman for North Wales Police said: "A robbery occurred at Saltney Ferry post office at Mainwaring Drive at roughly 5pm on Tuesday.
"The offenders were wearing crash helmets and are believed to have left the area on a motorbike."
