A 19-year-old in a relationship with a young teenager sent repeated threats to kill her parents over a six month period, after the family attempted to stop the pair communicating.
Mamun Islam, of no fixed address, contacted the girl he had known for two years via Snapchat until she blocked him after receiving messages in which he had threatened to kill both her mother and father.
Swansea Crown Court was told the family had contacted police because of the nature of the messages, and when she had temporarily unblocked him on the social media device, he once again began sending messages - while she was still in the presence of police officers.

In them, Islam told the girl that he intended to kill himself, and that if he did so "then she will die also".
Prosecuting, Ian Wright told the court the threatening messages began in June last year, and continued until January.
They included: 'I will never forgive your parents even if I kill your dad'; 'I want to make a war happen'; 'I just want to kill your dad'; 'The day I have killed one of your family I will calm down. I wish I could face your dad now'; 'Your dad is going to deserve what is coming'; 'I will kill myself in jail once I have killed your dad'; and 'Kill, kill, kill your stupid mother f****** dad'.
Mr Wright said that despite Islam making an apology to the parents at another time, he had continued to send the messages.
The court heard the 19-year-old had convictions for theft and dishonesty, and possession of articles for use in fraud.

'He accepts he has significant anger issues'

He was also reprimanded in 2011 for exposure, after he was caught on CCTV exposing his penis and masturbating.
Mitigating, Lee Davies, said: "Perhaps his best mitigation is the defendant's early guilty plea.
"He has asked me to tell the court he is sorry for the threats and realises the gravity of his behaviour.
"He has not tried to carry out the threats, and complainants are very fair about that, they are words alone, although that does not minimise their gravity.
"He still has the support of his family, and they are concerned about his future. The defendant needs help and he accepts he has significant anger issues".

Sentencing, Judge Geraint Walters said: "You threatened to kill this family…You became obsessed with them, and your conduct has been hugely worrying, and no doubt an ordeal for the family.
"You accept that between June and January you engaged in a campaign of terrorising this family by threatening to kill.
"These were no idle threats, they were repeated, they were detailed and they were chilling.
"You intended you would make your victims' family know you forever in terms of notoriety and you would be a name on their lips. Your conduct was chilling and must have been terrifying to them.
"I have queried if some sort of mental condition to act in this way, but no-one seems to think that is the reason for it.
"You have to sort this out. It is not normal behaviour, and it is truly troubling".
Islam was sentenced to two years in jail, and told he would serve one and a half in custody.
He was also made subject to a restraining order to last for 10 years.
