Laughing Richard Thomas Davies told one of the children that she "wouldn't have a kitten ever again" as he threw it into a pond near to a playground in Rhydwen Drive
Two children tried desperately to rescue a drowning kitten that a man had swung by its tail into a pond.
Richard Thomas Davies was carrying the young cat under his jacket when it scratched him. He then headed to a pond near the adventure playground in Rhydwen Close, Rhyl , and threw the animal in.
They waded into the water to try to save it, but couldn’t.
Laughing and drunk, Davies told the girl: “You won’t have a kitten ever again”.
Davies went home to the house he shared with Rachel Charmley-Davies and her six children in Gwynfryn Avenue in Rhyl. She saw he was drunk and called police while trying to stop him coming into the house.
They began to scuffle and Miss Charmley-Davies was pushed against a wall, hurting her back and head.
At Llandudno magistrates court today, 32-year-old Davies pleaded guilty to causing the kitten unnecessary suffering, but adjourned sentencing until February 20 while all the sentencing options were looked at,
He was acquitted on the charge of common assault on Miss Charmley-Davies, as it was decided it couldn’t be proven beyond reasonable doubt that the assault occurred.
He claimed she had slapped him.
Davies, now of Cae Mawr, Llandudno, was on a community order at the time of the offence and had since been on an alcohol treatment course.
