Police believe a burning car in Caia Park may have been used by thieves who struck at Rhostyllen Pharmacy
Detectives believe that a car that was deliberately set on fire last night could be linked to a raid at a pharmacy.
The Peugeot 206 car was found blazing at The Dunks in Caia Park, Wrexham, just before 6.50pm.
Police have linked the arson attack to a burglary at Rhostyllen Pharmacy at Trinity Close which happened on Monday at around 11.30pm.
Two men wearing hoodies and tracksuit bottoms smashed their way throughout the front of the building and stole a till.
They made off in a black Peugeot 206 driven by a third offender.
A North Wales Police spokesman said: “Police investigating a car arson at The Dunks in Caia Park Wrexham last night believe it may be linked to a burglary at a pharmacy in Rhostyllen on Monday, but are awaiting the results of a more detailed examination.
“Emergency services were called at 6.49pm last night to reports of a Peugeot 206 ablaze on land off Queensway.”
Store owner Gerald Thomas said staff were left upset by the break-in when it was discovered on Tuesday morning.
He said: “They had smashed their way in through the front and left a real mess. There was glass everywhere.
“Staff were upset when they came in because of the state of the place.”
The break-in comes after a spate of robberies targeting newsagents in Wrexham.
However, it is not believed that the pharmacy burglary is linked to the other incidents at this stage.
Yesterday, a man was arrested on suspicion of trying to execute two robberies at two shops in Wrexham.
Police arrested a 36-year-old man following two attempted armed raids on McColls newsagents in Rhosnesni Lane and at the Spar on Chester Road in Gresford over the weekend.
The two attacks happened within 15 minutes of each other on Sunday February 12 with the first at McColls taking place at 7.50am.
Officers said the man remains in police custody today while he is being quizzed by detectives.
On Monday morning computers were discovered stolen from the Max Spielmann photography and printing store on Hope Street after robbers broke in through a back door.
While on February 5 armed raiders threatened staff and stole cash from Premier Stores on Victoria Road in Brynteg.
There was a similar armed robbery involving three men at Premier Stores in Gwersyllt on Friday, February 3.
Two days earlier thieves stole a till at Bargain Booze in Heol Celyn, Coedpoeth.
