A SWANSEA Valley man who had sexual abuse images of children as young as five — as well as a beastiality video — on his computer and mobile phone has avoided jail.
Swansea Crown Court also heard there was evidence Gary Boden had searched the internet for sexual pictures of underage girls.
Janet Gedrych, prosecuting, told the court that police initially went to Boden's house in Pontardawe after receiving information somebody at the address was sharing extreme child abuse images online.

They seized computer hard-drives belonging to the 31-year-old, and on them found a total of 77 sexual images of children, five of them classed as Category A, the most extreme kind. The youngest child in the pictures was aged around five.
Officers also found a beastiality film.
Boden's hard drive also showed he had searched online for pre-teen images.
The court heard officers couldn't access his mobile phone — but on its Sim card they found a sex abuse film featuring a girl aged 12.

The prosecutor said that though police had initially gone to the address believing file-sharing was going on, there was no evidence Boden had been sharing the images with other people.
Boden, of Swansea Road, Pontardawe, had previously pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children — a possession charge — and to possessing an extreme pornographic image when he appeared in the dock for sentencing.
The court heard he had no previous convictions on his record.

Huw Davies, for Boden, said the majority of the images found had been Category C, rather than the more serious A or B.
Recorder Gregory Bull said in order to make the kinds of pictures Boden had on his computer, vulnerable young girls were being "abused in the most appalling circumstances".
He said: "Society has to protect young girls from the likes of you."
Boden was sentenced to a three year community order with rehabilitation and sex offender programme requirement He was also put on the sex offenders register for the next five years, and was made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order which allows the police to monitor his internet use.
