Cardiff,South Wales - Two men have admitted their roles in an organised crime gang behind £100k car thefts

Dean Cronin and Daniel Gordon pleaded guilty to conspiracy to handle stolen cars following a six-month police investigation

Two men have admitted their part in an organised crime gang involved in stealing cars worth more than £100,000 from across south Wales.
Dean Cronin and Daniel Gordon both admitted conspiring to handle stolen cars after being arrested during a six-month police investigation into the activities of an organised crime group in Cardiff .
Speaking at Cardiff Crown Court , Judge Daniel Williams warned the defendants: “You both face prison sentences.”
South Wales Police previously confirmed that detectives from Fairwater Criminal Investigation Department spent half a year investigating what they described as an organised crime group operating in the city.
A pre-planned operation was carried out by officers in Mynachdy on January 3, which resulted in more than £100,000 worth of stolen vehicles being recovered.
Speaking after the operation, Detective Inspector Dean Taylor said the day of action represented the “climax” of their investigation.
Det Insp Taylor confirmed the cars were stolen during burglaries that took place across areas covered by both South Wales Police and Gwent Police .
The joint operation was led by officers from the Eastern Divisional Organised Crime Unit, with support from the Regional Organised Crime Unit.
Dean Cronin, 41, from Llantarnam Road in Cardiff, and Daniel Gordon, 28, who is currently in HM Prison Cardiff, both entered guilty pleas to a charge of conspiracy to handle stolen cars.

Prison sentences likely

The charge relates to the period between June 26 and November 3 last year and acknowledges they conspired together with other unknown people.
Prosecutors asked for a timetable to be set for a hearing under the Proceeds of Crime Act.
Judge Williams adjourned the case and asked for pre-sentence reports from the Probation Service.
He told the defendants: “The fact I have adjourned for pre-sentence reports is no indication of sentence. You understand that you both face prison sentences.”
Cronin and Gordon were remanded in custody until they are sentenced on February 24.
