Stephen Mark Prosser, 43, initially claimed that his "repeated attack" at a property in Lon Brynli back in January was an accident

A Prestatyn man who stabbed his friend several times in a “repeated attack” has been jailed for nine years.
Stephen Mark Prosser , 43, showed no emotion while the sentence was passed at Mold Crown Court today.
The court was told that victim Billy Moore and Prosser were friends.
Both lived in Lon Brynli in Prestatyn and were described as drug users.
On the day of the incident on January 4, Prosser had given Mr Moore £10 to buy heroin.

But when Mr Moore went to buy the drugs, the supplier told him that it would not be ready for 20 minutes.
Mr Moore phoned Prosser to tell him about the delay but said the two became involved in a heated exchange when the defendant became did not believe him.
When Prosser arrived at the flat, the two became locked in a scuffle during which Mr Moore was stabbed three times - twice to the chest and once to the back.
Mr Moore shouted “you’ve stabbed me” and tried to leave but as he struggled to open the door he was stabbed twice more – once just under the arm pit and one to the back.
After Mr Moore left, Prosser used a towel to wipe the blood in the flat and took the towel and knife with him - but not before threatening a witness to the incident by saying “you have not seen anything have you.”
Prosecutor David Mainstone told how the Mr Moore received life-threatening injuries in the attack and was treated at Glan Clwyd Hospital at Bodelwyddan before being and airlifted to the major trauma unit at the Royal Stoke Hospital.
He lost three litres of blood and sustained a punctured lung and diaphragm during the incident.
Arrested and interviewed, Prosser initially denied being present.
However, in a later interview, Prosser alleged he had stabbed Mr Moore accidentally when he bumped into him while he was holding a knife which he had used for stripping wires.
Prosser eventually admitted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and possessing the kitchen knife.
In a victim impact statement Mr Moore, who had since left Prestatyn and moved to another area, told how he was struggling to come to terms with what his friend had done.
“I believe he was not himself,” he said in the statement.

“Not so long ago I saved his life when he overdosed and this is how I am being repaid,” he said.
Mr Moore also told how he had nightmares about the defendant attacking him with a knife and woke up in a distressed and panicked state.
Maria Massellis, defending, said that despite what was said in the pre-sentence report, the defendant did accept responsibility for the incident and felt genuine remorse.
“He will have to live with the knowledge that he nearly killed a friend of his,” she said.
She said that the defendant had turned to the use of drugs due to the loss of his father and a baby daughter within six months.
He had done well for three years with the support of the drugs agencies but for six months before the stabbing he had spiralled downwards again which led to catastrophic behaviour which “he bitterly regrets”.
Judge Rhys Rowlands said it seemed that there had been a disagreement between the friends over drugs and money.
“You carried a knife to this house, you had previously taken heroin, you used the knife to stab him more than once and you caused very serious injuries,” Judge Rowlands told him.”
