A pedestrian is in a critical condition in hospital after a suspected hit-and-run on the A472

A 37-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries after allegedly being hit by a car in Crumlin

A pedestrian is in a critical condition in hospital after a suspected hit-and-run.
The incident happened on the A472 Hafod-yr-ynys Road in the early hours of Sunday.
A 37-year-old pedestrian from the Crumlin area is believed to have been in a collision with a vehicle travelling from Crumlin towards Hafodyrynys.
The male pedestrian was taken to the Royal Gwent Hospital in Newport with life-threatening injuries.
He is now in a critical condition at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff
The incident occurred near the layby approaching the brow of the hill at around 3.45am on Sunday.
Gwent Police spokeswoman said: “The driver of the vehicle involved may or may not have been aware of their part in the collision and left the scene.
“Officers are investigating this incident and are eager to speak to any motorist who was using the A472 in either direction between 3.30am and 3.50am on Sunday morning.”
