Thoughtless fly-tippers cut-off a route connecting two villages in Flintshire after dumping a pile of rubbish in the middle of a road.
Rubbish including mattresses and even a door and window frame were dumped on an unclassified country road between Caerwys and Babell yesterday.
The road was left completely blocked and one concerned resident claims that the mound of rubbish could have caused an accident or blocked emergency services from getting to Babell.
He said: “At about 7.45am on Bank Holiday I was going to Caerwys on the narrow lane for the papers.
"But I found all this rubbish flytipped and it was actually blocking the whole road.
“It was just too much to shift on my own so I had to turn back. It was unbelievable.
“It is the quickest road between Caerwys and Babell and emergency vehicles including an ambulance would not have been able to get through.
“It could have been fatal as it’s a bit of a way to go round it on another road – about five or six minutes which can be life and death.”
The resident, who wishes to remain anonymous, said that the dumped rubbish was left in such a dangerous position that it could have caused a crash.
He said: “If you follow a sat-nav the road is where it takes you. And if you don’t know the area, you might not know which way to go.
“I had to turn around the car and it’s very narrow, and if someone had not seen the rubbish in time it could have caused an accident.
“It is just the arrogance of it. I have seen plenty of rubbish on the road but always on the verge – never blocking the road like a barrier.
“To actually close off the road with the rubbish – it just shows that they go not care for their fellow human beings.”
