A man has suffered “life-changing injuries” after being hit by a car in Upper Bangor during the early hours of this morning.
Police were called shortly after 3.30am to reports of a crash involving a white Skoda Fabia and a pedestrian outside the Late Stop on Holyhead Road.
Officers rushed to the scene and a man in his 20s was taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd with serious leg injuries.
Overnight he has been transferred to the specialist trauma centre at Stoke hospital with aNorth Wales Police spokesman describing his injuries as “life changing”.
The driver of the Skoda, 18, has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving and driving dangerously.
He remains in police custody.
Sergeant Emlyn Hughes from the Roads Policing Unit said: “We are appealing for witnesses and are particularly keen on speaking to anybody who may have seen the vehicle being driven prior to the collision to come forward.
“We believe the white Skoda Fabia travelled along Caernarfon Road before heading up to Holyhead Road.
“Anybody with information that could assist our investigation should contact us on 101.”
The road was closed whilst the investigation was ongoing but re-opened shortly after 9am.
Anybody who may have information regarding the collision, or anybody who may have seen the vehicle being driven prior to the incident is asked to contact officers at the Western Roads Policing Unit on 101, quoting reference number U018040.
