Aaron Dale Evans pleaded guilty to robbing the Subway of Fforestfach Cross
A MAN has pleaded guilty to robbing a sandwich shop armed with a screwdriver — but sentencing has been adjourned pending pleas on 13 other matters including burglaries, ramraids, thefts and taking vehicles.
Aaron Dale Evans burst into the Subway shop on Fforestfach Cross on the evening of December 14 wearing a balaclava and brandishing a screwdriver.
Kevin Jones, prosecuting, told Swansea Crown Court that the 30-year-old went straight behind the counter of the food outlet and started "attacking" the till with the screwdriver.
Mr Jones said that Evans told the member of staff on duty a number of times not to get involved, saying: "It is not worth your life".
However the shopworker tried to put a trolley between the robber and the till — whereupon Evans picked up the trolley and threw it at him.
Evans then turned his attention to the till once more — pushing it to the floor and forcing it open, and taking around £180 in cash from inside before making-off.
Evans, of Rhodfa Brain, Ravenhill, had previously pleaded guilty to robbery and to possessing an offensive weapon in a public place when he appeared in the dock for sentencing.
The prosecutor said Evans was facing 13 other charges including burglaries, two ramraids, two taking vehicles and two thefts — including one from his mother — and that pleas to those offences were expected at a hearing at Swansea Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Dan Griffiths, for Evans, said guilty pleas to those matters were likely when his client appeared before justices.
Recorder Simon Mills adjourned sentencing until January 11, and remanded Evans into custody until that date.
As Evans was led down to the cells, he mouthed "I love you" to two women in the public gallery.
