The man stabbed in Prestatyn yesterday has been named locally.
Billy Moore, who lives on Lon Brynli in the town with his fianceé, had only been in the area for a few months according to locals.
Originally from Warrington he is in the University Hospital of North Staffordshire being treated for a stab wound to his chest.
The community has told of its shock after the 24-year-old was stabbed in broad daylight on Lon Ceiriog at around 1.45pm on Monday.
An ambulance was called shortly before 2pm to Mr Moore’s property.
He was rushed to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, Bodelwyddan, before being airlifted to Stoke.
Police officers and forensic teams searched gardens and bins, as they conducted house to house enquiries in Lon Ceiriog, Lon Brynli and the surrounding area.
A separate house on Lon Brynli, believed to have been raided by police yesterday, remains boarded up.
No arrests have been made and police are still hunting whoever carried out the attack.
Christine Riley, who has lived on Lon Ceiriog for three years, said: "I did not see what had happened, but I heard that the person stabbed had been seen running down the street with blood on him."
Eyewitnesses said up to five police cars were on the scene as well as an emergency ambulance and the Wales Air Ambulance helicopter.
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Jason Devonport said: "From our inquiries we believe that the victim and offender were known to each other and we would like to reassure members of the local community that our comprehensive work continues.”
DCI Devonport added: “We remain extremely keen to speak to anyone who has information relating to the incident, who was in the Lon Ceiriog or Lon Brynli areas at around 1.45pm on Monday and believes they saw something that may assist us with our investigations to please get in touch with us at St Asaph CID immediately on 101.”
High visibility patrols are being undertaken in the area to reassure the community
