A MAN’S arm was broken when he was attacked in the street at 4am, a court heard.
Judge Merfyn Hughes QC jailed Jake Mansfield for 21 months after he admitted wounding Michael Tibling in the incident in Bodfor Street, Rhyl a year ago.
The judge said Mansfield, 22, had punched his victim in the eye, grabbed his neck, pulled him to the ground, got him in a headlock then hit him 10 times in the face.
“This was a sustained and repeated assault,” said the judge at Caernarfon Crown Court yesterday, who added that Mansfield had not learned his lesson from previous convictions.
Anna Pope, prosecuting, said Mansfield, of Glasbir Road, Penyffordd, Holywell, had told police he had “15 bottles” before leaving home that night.
Simon Rogers, defending, said Mansfield was paying a private organisation called Life Coaching to try to deal with his drink problem.
He worked on a farm and his employer described him as polite, courteous and honest.
Mr Rogers suggested a suspended sentence might offer a chance of rehabilitation.
