A Carmarthenshire man has been jailed for stabbing his step daughter's new boyfriend in the heart - because he didn't like him.
Anthony Trevor Osmond, aged 52, of Parc Meiros, Felindre, admitted a charge of unlawful wounding, after he almost killed Gareth Wyn Jones with a kitchen knife.
Mr Jones would have died but for an emergency operation, Swansea Crown Court heard.
Anthony Trevor Osmond, aged 52, of Parc Meiros, Felindre, was jailed for two and a half years after he admitted a charge of unlawful wounding.
Helen Randall, prosecuting, said that Osmond had been described as over protective of and obsessed with his step-daughter Oasis, aged 20.
She had been a barmaid at the Nags Head pub in Abercych and formed a relationship with Mr Jones, a customer.
At first, she kept the relationship a secret because of Osmond's attittude. When she told her stepfather about her new boyfriend, Osmond insisted on meeting him.
Miss Randall said Mr Jones then began to receive text messages and voice messages on his mobile from Osmond, with one telling him "you're dead". He also left messages Mr Jones' Facebook page.
Osmond was sentenced to two and a half years in prison.
