A PAINTER and decorator who admitted stealing jewellery from the home of a customer has been jailed.
Andrew Harold Roberts, 27, of New Hey Road, Birkenhead, pleaded guilty to burglary at the house in Nelson Street, Shotton after he entered a bedroom where he had no permission to be and stole the jewellery.
He also admitted a separate charge of the theft of two rings from the house.
A third charge that he stole a money box, which he had denied, was allowed to remain on the file.
Judge David Hale jailed Roberts for 20 months at Mold Crown Court and said they were particularly mean offences in breach of trust.
The property was of high value – some £3,700 – but it was also of great sentimental value, the court heard.
“You got a job at your victim’s home and you took advantage of that,” the judge told Roberts.
