Sealand,North Wales - Man admits flashing but denies wearing red knickers while doing it

Mold Crown Court
Flintshire Magistrates Court

Terrence Haslam, 62, was accused of standing in a doorway with his hands on his hips wearing a pair of red knickers

A man has admitted flashing from his home – on one occasion when it was alleged that he was wearing red women’s knickers!
Terrence Haslam, 62, admitted exposing himself four times, but he denied the claim that he was wearing women’s underwear.
On the first occasion, the female complainant said she saw him standing naked in an internal doorway after he put the light on.
Flintshire magistrates court heard he looked at her, turned around and bent over, then stood up and faced her and she could see his private parts.
The woman was said to have told her partner: “The dirty sod is at it again.”
A second time she saw him naked in a doorway of his home looking at her, and on the third occasion the same thing happened but she said he then pulled up a pair of red women’s knickers, put his hand on his hips and looked at her.
The woman said that she was shocked and angry and believed he was specifically targeting her.
She made a formal complaint to the police on September 27 but the same thing happened the following day, Mr Hughes explained.
The police spoke to him at the time, but when she confronted him in December he told her he was a naturist and that he thought she wanted to see him.
She told him that was absolutely not the case.
On one occasion, the court heard, Haslam, of the Green Lane Estate, Sealand , was said to be indulging in a solo sex act.
But when interviewed by police, he said he may have been putting ointment on his knee.
He denied looking at the woman - and some others she brought along to witness what was going on - because he said he wouldn’t have been able to see her outside in the dark, and that the blinds would ordinarily prevent people seeing into his home.
He denied targeting the woman, and denied that he was wearing women’s knickers.
He had originally denied a total of seven charges of exposing his genitals claiming that he was a naturist and that he had not intended that anyone should see him.
He also denied the sex act allegation.
A trial had been due to be held but his guilty pleas to four charges was accepted by the prosecution, and the other three charges were dropped.
The court heard Haslam worked and also cared for his sick wife, and so the ban on him returning home was lifted ahead of sentencing.
