An armed robber who got the wrong address, the taxi driver jailed 40 years after a sex attack on a teenage girl and a burglar who was caught when he fell asleep in a hammock in his victim's garden were among those sent to prison in Wales over the past month.
Here are the stories of the criminals jailed in October.
Maria Hopes
She was ordered to spend a minimum of 17 years in jail for the brutal killing of her husband Mark.
Mr Hopes, who married his wife in March 2011, was beaten to death in the living room of his home so violently that blood spattered up the wall.
Evan Heddwyn Jones
The 71-year-old farmer was jailed for sexually assaulting a teenager he drove around in his taxi almost 40 years ago.
Esther Hoad took the brave step to waive her right to anonymity to speak out.
Michael Evans
The armed robber burst into a house and demanded cash before realising he had got the wrong address.
Two other men involved in the robbery are still at large, but Evans was jailed for 63 months at Swansea Crown Court.
Rommel Alleyne
The 25-year-old model was jailed for trying to run over a love rival in his gold car. He swerved his customised gold Peugeot at Thomas Church who was walking in Cwmbranwith his ex-lover.
Nozomul Ali and Michael Balmont
Drug dealer Ali got his brother and sister to deliver heroin and crack cocaine for him. The 33-year-old was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court along with his sister Fathia Begum, 26, brother Shanoor Ali, 24, and friend Michael Balmont, 28.
John Peters
The “monster” who subjected a young girl to nearly a decade of rape and sexual abuse, leaving her emotionally scarred for life, was jailed for 20 years.
The 79-year-old's victim – now 57 – said that she was robbed of her childhood by his offences and has never been able to shake off her feelings of shame and disgust.
Dean Edwards
The 'dangerous' man threatened to set fire to a pet dog before assaulting and raping its owner. Cardiff Crown Court heard Dean Edwards, 39, hit his victim’s head against a wall and covered her mouth with his hand.
He was given an extended sentence of 12 years and the judge ordered that Edwards must serve at least eight years in prison before he can apply for parole.
David Owen Healion
Healion was jailed for rubbing chillies and spraying an aerosol in the face of his partner during a two-hour attack.
He also threatened to drill a hole in the eye of his victim, threw her across the room and attempted throw her down stairs.
Christopher John Surman
The conman was jailed for four years for not repaying £420,000 after his Swansea-based call centre conned thousands of phone customers out of cash.
Michael Markkanen
The drug dealer with £135,000 of ecstasy and MDMA in his Cardiff home was jailed for more than six years in October.
Officers searching Michael Markkanen’s home in St Donats Road, Canton , Cardiff , discovered a haul of more than 8,000 ecstasy pills and crystalline MDMA, which had a potential street value of between £67,670 and £135,340.
Dean Churchill
The 30-year-old robber was jailed after he knocked a woman to the ground as he tried to grab £450 from her hand in a post office queue. Churchill, from Heol Homfray in Ely, Cardiff, admitted attempted robbery and was sentenced to two years in prison, suspended for 18 months.
Lyndon Linton
The delivery driver regarded by colleagues as the model employee was jailed for stealing nearly 700 parcels worth £36,000 and sold them to unsuspecting customers on eBay using the account DelBoy2410.
He admitted eight counts of theft from his employer, Hermes, but Recorder Jeremy Jenkins said the extent of his offending was far greater.
Shaun Davies
The dozy burglar was caught by police after he fell asleep in a hammock in his victim's garden. He admitted burgling three sheds at a property in High Street in Pengam on September 21 while carrying a knife and “off his head” on speed.
Patrick O'Driscoll
The jail inmate fractured the cheekbone and eye socket of a prison officer after lashing out when he was told he shouldn’t be wearing shorts.
O’Driscoll, of Loudoun Square in Butetown , Cardiff , was given a 16-month jail term for causing grievous bodily harm for the attack at HM Parc Prison.
Henry Adam Price, Colwyn Price and Henry Wayne Price
The two brothers and their nephew were sent to prison after they were caught handling stolen heavy plant machinery worth more than £5,000.
Marcus Phillips
Cardiff Crown Court heard how th barman ran off with nearly £6,000 from a Cardiff Baypub while his managers were on holiday – and spent the cash on a new television. He then went on the run for a year, but was caught and jailed for 15 months.
Antony Smith
The violent thug gouged the eye of a Good Samaritan rugby fan when his victim stepped in to stop the defendant threatening a crying woman.
The court heard Smith’s victim David Whiteley approached the defendant on a train between Cardiff and Bridgend on February 20 this year after Smith was shouting at and threatening his own partner.
Donna Pearte, Darren Hennessy and Tina Mills
The three were jailed for being part of a conspiracy to supply heroin from Birmingham to Barry. The court heard that a flat in the town received a "constant stream" of visitors.
