An investigation has been launched after concerns were raised about a river turning white.
Natural Resources Wales (NRW) said it has received “a number of reports” about the unusual colour of the River Ebbw in Crumlin near Pontypool and said it is on site investigating the cause.
NRW said it is currently unaware of any fish having been harmed as a result of the water.
Jacob Birch, natural resource manager for NRW, said: “Our initial assessments has found that over a two miles of the River Ebbw down stream of Crumlin have been affected.
“We anticipate finding the source shortly and will be taking action to stop the pollution.
“We have been able to respond rapidly to this incident thanks to calls from members of the public to our incident hotline 03000 65 3000.”
