Port Talbot,South Wales - Paedophile newsagent raped and abused girls as young as 13

Clive Gordon Davies from Mumbles subjected the girls to 'systemic sexual abuse'

A newsagent raped and sexually abused a series of young girls - some as young as 13.
Port Talbot newsagent Clive Gordon Davies plied some of his victims with alcohol and blackmailed and bullied them into submission.
A judge described his actions as "pure wickedness" and told him had deprived his victims of their childhoods.
Davies, now aged 74, subjected the girls to sustained and systematic sexual abuse during a 10 year period during the 1970s and 1980s.
But it wasn't until 2015 that his victims came forward and police launched an investigation.
Davies, of Moorland Avenue, Newton near Mumbles, had previously pleaded guilty to 31 sexual offences involving girls aged between 13 and 15 when he appeared in the dock for sentencing.
He was jailed for 15 years.
The court heard Davies subjected the girls to "systematic sexual abuse" that in the case of one of his victims went on for some three years.
He plied a number of the young teens with alcohol and took indecent photographs of them, telling them he would show people the pictures if they told anyone about the sexual assaults.
Sending him to prison, judge Geraint Walters described the offending as "truly disturbing" and the defendant as a "serial abuser of young girls".
He told him: "Your conduct was nothing short of pure wickedness.
"You were a predatory paedophile who preyed on young girls — you deprived them of their childhoods."
Davies was brought to justice following Operation Grey Lion, an investigation by specialist detectives based in Morriston police station.
South Wales Police detective inspector Phil Sparrow welcomed the jailing of Davies — and said he wanted to assure all victims of sexual abuse that their allegations would be dealt with sensitively and in confidence.
He said: "We welcome the sentencing in what has been an extremely traumatic experience for the victims, and recognise the courage and strength it took for them to come to come forward and report this matter to the police.
"I hope the sentencing will act as a catalyst to empower other victims to come forward and enable the police and our partners to give them the support they need to report crimes — and ultimately bring offenders to justice.
"We know that victims and witnesses will be concerned, and therefore we want potential victims to know that allegations will be treated in the strictest confidence and in a safe and sensitive manner. We want victims to know that they will be listened to and believed and that their allegations will be thoroughly investigated."
He added: "We have an experienced team of specially trained officers. The unit is committed to thoroughly investigating allegations, providing support to victims and bringing perpetrators to justice.
"I hope that the recent successful prosecutions at court have provided some comfort to the victims of these horrific crimes but will also inspire others to come forward and report these matters to us."
Speaking after the sentencing, NSPCC Cymru said Davies' victims had been "incredibly brave" in coming forward - the charity also praised the the police investigation that led to his conviction.
A spokesman said: "This was an appalling and horrendous level of abuse carried out over a prolonged period of time and will have caused lifelong damage to Davies' victims.
"Those victims have shown incredible bravery in coming forward their attacker could finally face justice.
"The police should also be praised for their investigation into these crimes – it is vitally important that children who suffer such cruelty have the confidence to report it in the knowledge that action will be taken."
