Shockingly violent footage has been posted online showing a schoolgirl being attacked.
Videos posted on Facebook have led to an investigation being launched and two pupils being temporarily excluded.
The videos show attacks on one girl, who is a pupil at Ysgol Gyfun Bro Morgannwg school in Barry.
The father of the 15-year-old victim said she was hospitalised and “absolutely terrified”.
He has asked us to post the footage to show the appalling nature of the violence, in which his daughter is repeatedly punched and kicked in the attack after school on November 2 at the Buttrills playing fields.
The dad said: “She was absolutely terrified.
“I have seen a change in her. She was quite an outgoing and confident person.”
The dad said: “After the doctor examined her he took advice from his superiors and he seemed quite worried.
“They took her for a CT scan to check her head and neck to see if she had a bleed on the brain.
“For those two hours I had these feelings of ‘Oh my God, I don’t know the consequences of a bleed on the brain’. I thought ‘Is my daughter going to be a vegetable?’
“The CT scan results came back fine thankfully. She still complains of headaches and pain in her side.”
The victim and her sister have both been removed from the school at their parents’ request.
The video above shows the victim being repeatedly punched and kicked in the head, as well as being struck in the head with a knee.
The victim does not fight back in the video and walks off while several other pupils stand and watch.
Other videos showing different attacks on the same girl have been posted to Facebook. They took place on the same day at around the same time. It is not clear if a specific attack led to the girl being taken to hospital.
A statement released on Facebook by Ysgol Gyfun Bro Morgannwg head teacher, Hywel Price, on November 12 said: “Dear Parents, Guardians and Pupils,
“Following the appearance of mobile phone footage on various social media websites which clearly shows two pupils from Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg assaulting another pupil from the school, I wish to make a very clear and concise statement to the whole school community.
“The school is fully aware of the incident and footage, and several members of staff have spent countless hours on collating evidence from various sources, collecting written statements from several pupils and meeting parents.
“Two pupils have received fixed term exclusions whilst the school conducts its investigation in co-operation with the Vale of Glamorgan Council and the Governing Body.
“A final decision will be taken on the matter on the conclusion of the investigation in due course. Please be assured that we are investigating the incident thoroughly.
“Thank you for your co-operation once again.”
The school said they have been investigating the incident since before the videos were posted on social media.
South Wales Police acting chief inspector, Robert Miles, said: “We are aware of the video, showing an assault on a school pupil in Buttrills Playing Fields in Barry, which has been circulating on social media.
“I want to assure the public that the matter is being taken very seriously and that we are continuing to work closely with the school and the families of those concerned.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
Vale councillor Lis Burnett said: “The Vale of Glamorgan Council is supporting the school and its governing body while an investigation of the incident is being undertaken.
“Any further disciplinary action will be a matter for the head teacher and governing body.
“A counselling service is available to support any pupils impacted by the incident.”
