Llanrwst,North Wales - Conwy man accused of raping two women and sexually assaulting a third

Gareth Robert Davies-Jones denies carrying out the alleged attacks in 2013 and 2014

A man accused of raping two women and seriously sexually assaulting a third claims they consented to having sex with him.
Gareth Robert Davies-Jones, 21, of Llain Hiraethog, Llansannan near Llanrwst denies eight charges and is standing trial at Caernarfon Crown Court.
Outlining the prosecution case Mark Connor told the jury the offences against two of the young women are alleged to have occurred in the summer of 2013 and March 2014.
The other charges, relating to the third woman, are alleged to have occurred in August this year while Jones was on bail awaiting trial.
Mr Connor said there was no issue that sexual activity took place between the defendant and the three women.
“The defendant accepts that sexual activity took place and he asserts they agreed to it. The case boils down to who is telling the truth,” the barrister said.
Jones is said to have met the first woman in Wrexham.
Mr Connor said after one meeting both walked together to the bus station. After finding they had missed a bus Davies-Jones suggested they go for a walk.
“Although she felt unsettled with the suggestion she did agree and went to a grassy area near Tesco where he began to sexually assault her.
“She kept pulling away from him but instead of respecting her wishes he continued,” he said.
She reported the attacks several weeks later to police but did not make a full statement until the following year.
In March 2014 Davies-Jones met another young woman at a military event in Cardiff and she agreed to visit him in Abergele.
“They chatted in a park where the defendant began assaulting her sexually. She told him to stop but he carried on regardless. Standing to walk away the woman was guided into a cubicle in a public toilet where the assault continued,” said Mr Connor.
She reported the matter to police and Davies-Jones was arrested and later charged.
Mr Connor said the third woman was assaulted in a house in Abergele in August this year.
She had chatted with Davies-Jones on Facebook and agreed to visit him at the house where they sat on a sofa and watched a film.
During the movie Davies-Jones began to assault the woman.
“She again told him to stop but he disregarded her wishes and continued,” added Mr Connor.
The trial, expected to last all week, continues.
