Llandrindod Wells,South Wales - Stalker who tried to kidnap woman and threatened to keep her as "sex slave" is jailed

Robin Gomes, 33, broke into the woman's home near Llandrindod Wells, in Powys, after meeting her online

A stalker who broke into a woman’s home to kidnap her and keep her as his “sex slave” has been jailed.
Robin Gomes, 33, plotted to “chain and cage” the woman after meeting her online.
The court heard the woman confronted Gomes with a hunting rifle – and it went off as the defendant wrestled it from her hands moments before the police burst through the door of her home near Llandrindod Wells , Powys .
Office worker Gomes developed “sadistic fantasies” about the woman after meeting her on Twitter and striking up an online relationship.
They eventually met up in person for a night together but the woman, 31, told Gomes she didn’t want a romance.
Cardiff Crown Court heard Gomes then developed a plan to kidnap, enslave and rape the woman.

Claimed he was master

Prosecutor Phillip Warren said: “He claimed he was her master and she his slave. He says he finds sexual gratification in the suffering of others.
“He said she was an object to him, something to be trained and used properly, and she wasn’t allowed to object to them having sex.”
Mr Warren said initially their relationship “flourished” after meeting online and they agreed to meet up in Bristol.
She described Gomes as “attentive and complimentary” and they spent the night at a hotel together.
But the next morning she made it clear to him she didn’t see their relationship going any further.
Gomes then began bombarding her with abusive messages accusing her of sleeping with other men.
He eventually used the internet to track down where she lived, and began turning up at her countryside home to tell her he “loved” her.
Police were called and gave him a harassment warning, but was arrested later that day when he tried to return again.

Sent offensive tweets

The court heard Gomes continued to send the woman with offensive tweets despite being charged with stalking.
Prosecutor Mr Warren said: “He broke into her home with the intent of committing a sexual offence.
“He hired a car, tracked her down, and the suggestion is that there was a degree of reconnaissance beforehand, indicating significant planning.”
Mr Warren said Gomes banged on the door in a bid to carry out his sex slave plan.

She grabbed a hunting rifle from her gun cabinet, dialled 999 and barricaded herself in her bedroom when she heard Gomes break through her door, and heard him shout: “Where are you, you little b****?”
When he reached the landing she tried to fire the gun at him, but had left the safety catch on and he lunged at her and grabbed the weapon.
Gomes pushed her into her bedroom and onto her bed, before the gun went off and fired through a pillar in the room.
He told her she “needed to be taught a lesson” – but police burst into the home and arrested Gomes as the woman was left “crying uncontrollably.”

Admitted being "sexual sadist"

Gomes later admitted being a “sexual sadist” who “found sexual gratification in the suffering of a partner”, and had come to the woman’s home to “stop her misbehaving”.
In a statement read out in court the woman said she had been left feeling like a “zombie”, and now receives psychiatric treatment for anxiety.
She said: “I lost about a stone in weight in the week after the attack. I’ve struggled to eat and to sleep. I have nightmares and check my house to make sure that he’s not there.”
Gomes, of Caversham, Reading, Berks, admitted stalking and intent to commit a sexual act.
Trudi Yeatman, defending, said Gomes suffers from both personality and delusional disorders but had “improved” his behaviour since the attack in July 2014.

“Manipulative and devious”

Judge Michael Fitton told Gomes he was “manipulative and devious” and had never showed any remorse.
Judge Fitton said: “Yours was a planned offence with sadistic excitement of inflicting fear into your victim. You are dangerous in that you represent a risk of serious harm to the public in the future.”
He gave Gomes a 10-year extended jail sentence, saying he would serve seven-and-a-half years before he could apply for release.
He was given a restraining order against contacting the woman, a sexual harm prevention order limiting his future internet use, and made to sign the sex offenders register for life.
