Llangefni, Anglesey,North Wales - Two arrested over alleged sex assault before Welsh Assembly rugby side clash

Two 31-year-old men have been arrested, one of whom works for the National Assembly

A National Assembly staff member has been arrested following allegations that a woman was sexually assaulted in a hotel.
Police are appealing for information over the alleged incident in Llangefni, Anglesey, the night before the Assembly’s rugby side was due to play Llangefni RFC veterans on Saturday.
North Wales Police confirmed two 31-year-old men from South Wales had been arrested and released on bail.
The side, called Welsh Assembly Rugby and made up of Assembly staff, AMs and others, had been due to play Llangefni veterans at 2pm on Saturday but the game was called off at the last minute.
The match had been organised by Llangefni RFC juniors coach and Anglesey AM Rhun ap Iorwerth, who is also a regular member of the National Assembly side.
Mr ap Iorwerth, 44, had been planning to play for Llangefni in the fixture, which was raising funds for the Ynys Mon National Eisteddford 2017 and for Bowel Cancer UK.

Assembly Commission: 'No AMs involved'

A spokesman for the Assembly Commission, which administers the National Assembly, said one of its staff had been arrested.
He said no Assembly Members were involved in the allegations.
He said: “The police are investigating an allegation against a member of Assembly Commission staff.
“In such circumstances, the Commission has procedures in place for dealing with allegations against staff and these procedures are being followed.
“No Assembly Members are involved in any way in the allegations that have been made.
“As it is an ongoing police investigation, it would not be appropriate for us to comment further.”

North Wales Police: 'Witnesses should call 101'

A spokesman for North Wales Police said the alleged incident happened at around midnight.
He said: “Two 31-year-old men from South Wales have been arrested and released on bail pending further inquiries.”
