Llandudno,North Wales - Deganwy mum left heartbroken after late father's jewellery is stolen from her home during raid

Devastated Rachel Williams has now offered a £1,000 reward for the safe return of the items belonging to dad Don who died after a battle with cancer

A mum is offering a £1,000 reward for the safe return of her late father’s jewellery which was stolen from her house just six weeks after his death.
Rachel Williams says she and her son do not now feel safe in their own home after it was burgled sometime between 7.15pm on Saturday and 8.15am on Sunday.
The 36-year-old psychiatric support worker arrived home from a night shift to find her house in Deganwy, near Llandudno, had been raided, with cash also taken.
“Nothing was out of place downstairs, but when I went into my son’s room I thought it was strange his window was wide open,” said Rachel.
“His drawers were also upside down, but I just thought he’d come home, needed some clean clothes then had gone out again with his mates.”
Rachel then saw her ransacked bedroom and empty jewellery boxes.
She knew then she’d been burgled and the thieves had stolen a watch, solid gold necklace and gold bracelet that had all belonged to her father, Don Williams.
“My dad had cancer and I had nursed him during the last few weeks of his life, he’d been ill for six years and was so brave,” said Rachel.
“Three days before he died he told me to take £2,000 out of his account for Christmas presents and to take my two half sisters, aged 10 and seven, for a holiday, so I did.
“I bought two Mini iPad’s, and put the rest of the money in the wardrobe, I was going to bank it but didn’t ger around to it.

'Devastated'

“But I’m not bothered about the money, I just want my dad’s jewellery back and I’d willingly pay £1,000 for them.
“All I have of him now is his walking stick and the T-shirt he died in.”
Since the burglary Rachel says she can not go back into her bedroom and is sleeping downstairs.
“I used to work for Victim Support but I’ve realised now that until something like this happens to you, you have no idea what it is really like,” she added.
“My son doesn’t want to be here and I don’t want to be here.
“I keep on thinking that if he’d been in the house they could have attacked him in bed, I have visions finding him dead and of people going through my things.
“The house feels dirty to me because of what has happened, and I don’t want to wear my clothes as I feel those dirty hands have been rifling through them.”
Rachel has suffered two panic attacks since the incident, and her 19-year-old son phoned for an ambulance.
“We are installing security lights and a burglar alarm, but I still worry whoever did this will come back.
“They’ve also taken a Pandora bracelet that my boy bought for me last Christmas, which cost him a lot of money.”
Rachel added: “I wish whoever did this saw the impact it has made on my family, to see the devastation it has caused.”
Police said enquiries are ongoing into the incident.
