A MAN who stole a wallet from Swansea Magistrates Court that belonged to a manager with security firm G4S has been jailed.
The wallet had been put beside the metal detector at the entrance to the court by the G4S boss as he underwent checks from staff.
The manager walked away — leaving his wallet behind — and Darren Raymond Jones picked it up as he left the building.
Swansea Magistrates Court heard the G4S boss quickly realised what had happened and dashed back to the entrance — but his wallet was gone.
The area around the court was searched but all staff found was some of his discarded business cards.
Jones, of Gors Avenue, Mayhill, Swansea, pleaded guilty to the October 10 theft when he appeared before justices.

The court heard the 34-year-old had been identified from CCTV in the court, and when he subsequently returned to court for other matters he was recognised by security staff, who then alerted police.
At the time of the offence Jones was two months into a suspended prison sentence for driving while disqualified.
Steve Burnell, for Jones, said his client had been in court on the day in question to see a solicitor, and had popped in and out a number of times.
He said Jones had instructed him that he had picked up the wallet and gone home with it before realising his mistake, "panicking" and throwing it away.
Magistrates sentenced Jones to six weeks in prison for the theft, and activated three weeks of the previously imposed four-week suspended sentence to run consecutively, making a total of nine weeks.
