Relatives say the girl was grabbed and a hand was put over her nose and mouth so she couldn't breathe in the incident on Holland Park Drive
A 13-year-old girl was assaulted by two boys as she played in the park.
The youngster was grabbed by the arm by one of the teenagers while the other put his hand over her nose and mouth so she couldn’t breathe.
They then threw her into a ditch leaving her soaking wet.
Police are now investigating the incident, which happened in the park on Holland Park Drive in Rhyl on Saturday afternoon.
A relative of the victim said she returned home “wet through” and had been wearing some brand new boots which were left ruined.
The family member also said the girl had been a victim of bullying at school and knows the two boys who attacked her.
They said: “She was playing in the park on Saturday when these two boys set upon her.
“One grabbed her arm and the other put his hand over her face as if trying to suffocate her.
“Then they cart wheeled her into a ditch full of water and she came home wet through.
“She didn’t tell us what had happened at first and when we asked her what had happened to her new boots, she just said she was splashed in a puddle.
“But afterwards, she opened up, she told us all about the bullying.
“A boy even said to her: “Why don’t you cut your neck with a knife so I can watch.”
The family have reported the incidents to police, who are now investigating.
