A SWANSEA Valley man who collected hundreds of indecent pictures and films of abuse of children as young as two to feed his "deviant sexual attraction" has been jailed.
Simon Mills searched the internet for images of sexual abuse of children which he stored on his computer and on a number of DVDs.
One of the folders on his computer where he kept pictures was named "pregnant little girls".
Mills, aged 53, of Hodgson's Road, Godre'rgraig, had previously pleaded guilty to three counts of possessing incident images of children when he appeared in the dock of Swansea Crown Court for sentencing.
Dean Pulling, prosecuting, said that police, acting on intelligence that a computer at Mills' address was being used to access to file-sharing sites and download images, carried out a raid on the property in October last year.
The officers recovered a computer and a number of DVDs, and an examination of the seized items showed they contained 222 Category A pictures — the most extreme kind — 107 Category B pictures, and 517 Category C pictures, along with more than 200 films and movie clips.
The images showed children aged between two and six being sexually abused.
An examination of Mills' computer showed he had actively searched the net for such images, and had peer-to-peer software installed that allowed him to exchange files with other people.
A probation reported into the defendant said his offending was linked to his "deviant sexual attraction to children" and concluded that he posed a high risk of serious harm to female children, and posed a significant risk of committing offences "as a means of relieving deviant sexual urges".
John Hipkin, for Mills, said his client realised he needed treatment and help.
Recorder Richard Booth QC sentenced Mills to a total of two-and-a-half years in prison, and made him the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order which controls his internet access and prohibits him from having unsupervised contact with people under the age of 18.
Mills will also be on the sex offenders register for the rest of his life.
