A man who posted sexual photographs and videos of a woman on her Facebook page in a “revenge porn” attack has been jailed for 16 weeks.
David Edward Hayes, 37, of Cwr y Coed, Llangefni had initially denied the charge and was due to stand trial at Caernarfon Magistrates Court today.
But moments before proceedings were due to start he changed his plea to guilty.
He admitted one count of disclosing private sexual photographs and films with intent to cause distress.
Hayes also admitted a second charge of using threatening behaviour towards a second woman.
Sue Wynn-Jones, chairwoman of the bench told Hayes: “You posted videos and photos online and they remained live for a significant time causing great distress.
“The woman you threatened was so fearful she lied to police.”
For threatening behaviour he was jailed for eight weeks, to be served consecutively to the 16-week term, making a total of 24 weeks.
Hayes was also ordered to pay £500 compensation to the victim of revenge porn and £100 to the other woman as well as costs of £515.
The court also imposed a restraining order preventing Hayes from contacting either woman directly or indirectly.
Angharad Mullarkey, prosecuting, said the woman he targeted in the revenge porn attack received a notification that an image had been posted online on August 26 this year.
Later she received notification that two further images and a total of six videos had been posted on her Facebook page and the matter was reported to police on September 3.
Ms Mullarkey said: “This is a case of "revenge porn" as it has been called.
“The images were posted online without her consent.
“She was clearly identifiable and were of a graphic and explicit nature and caused her great distress and embarrassment.
“During that period Hayes sent the woman a message asking if she liked her new pornographic status.”
In a victim impact statement summarised in court the woman said she was “horrified and sickened” by the images posted by Hayes.
Regarding the threatening behaviour, Hayes admitted the offence against Emma Louise Edwards at LLangefni on September 17.
Ms Mullarkey said she had known Hayes for just a few days and was at a friends house when he burst in shouting and swearing and was asked to leave.
Later he approached Ms Edwards outisde the house holding a crowbar and pinned her to a vehicle.
“Police were alerted and when they attended Hayes told her to claim they were together and simply having a tiff.
“No complaint was made at the time but she later went to the police station and reported the matter,” she said.
Gareth Parry, defending, said when the images were posted online his client was drunk.
He said with regard to Ms Edward he accepted he had lost his temper.
Mr Parry added Hayes had a history of mental health issues and was receiving help.
