IMAGES showing what Llandudno’s Pier Pavilion development could look like have been released by developers.
The site, next to the resort’s Grand Hotel, was purchased in April this year by Alan Waldron who unveiled his plans to redevelop the site with a combination of underground car parking, commercial floorspace and residential units.
Plans for the development are on display at Llandudno library as part of a consultation until November 20.
Today (Wednesday, November 2) Mr Waldron – whose earlier projects have included a scheme for the derelict Deganwy dock, including the prestigious Quay Hotel – has shared designs by Creu Architecture of Denbigh which show how the finished site may look.
Mr Waldron Said: “With the history of copper mining on the Orme we have introduced the copper internally as well as the external finishes you can see. Let's start promoting this beautiful Welsh Riviera of ours.”
Cllr Carol Marubbi, mayor of Llandudno, welcomed the release of the designs - which she expects to see for herself this week - and said she is pleased to see plans moving forward.
She said: “Any improvement which highlights the pier has to be good. I was one of the biggest people to complain that it was taking too long to do something with it so I welcome it and I am sure I will welcome it even more when I see the plans.”
Cllr Graham Rees, Conwy’s cabinet member for tourism, marketing and leisure, welcomed plans for the site earlier this year, calling the proposals “a golden opportunity for a quality redevelopment at a key tourism site”.
