Daniel Terence Hazeldine, 30, of Ffordd Tan y Bryn, Maesgeirchen, is accused of attacking Noah Creed

A man accused of hitting a man over the head with a shovel is said to have told his victim “drop the charges or you will have to move out of the street”, a court heard.
Daniel Terence Hazeldine, 30, of Ffordd Tan y Bryn, Maesgeirchen, Bangor appeared before a jury at Caernarfon Crown Court this morning on the first day of a three-day trial.
He denies a charge of unlawful wounding, two charges of witness intimidation and assault by beating in October and December last year.
James Coutts, prosecuting, said the victim, Noah Creed, was asleep at home with his wife and three children at Ffordd y Castell, Maesgeirchen at 5.30am on Sunday, October 25.
He said they were woken up by the sound of a drunken male outside who threw and smashed a bottle of vodka against their bedroom window before leaving.
Mr Coutts said Mr Creed went back to bed.
The prosecutor said later that morning, Mr Creed saw Hazeldine and asked him if he was going to pay for the window.
Mr Coutts said: “He said he would because he was sorry and apologised to Mr Creed.”
A short time later the court heard, Hazeldine was outside Mr Creed’s house and smashed the living room window with a concrete breeze block.
He said Mr Creed “felt a blow to the back of his head” and fell to the floor.

Scuffle

The men scuffled and Mr Coutts said witnesses saw Hazeldine hit Mr Creed with a shovel, before picking up a child’s scooter, to hit him again and punching Mr Creed who was on the floor.
Mr Coutts said: “Mr Creed did fight back” and remembered waking up in hospital with bruising to his body, a deep cut to his left ear, black eyes and a cut lip.
During police interview Hazeldine accepted causing criminal damage and insisted he acted in self-defence.
Mr Coutts said Hazeldine was bailed for further investigations but about 3pm on December 3, broke bail conditions by banging on Mr Creed’s front door while his children were screaming.
It was at this point he is said to have told Mr Creed: “Drop the charges or you will have to get out of the street.”

“You are all grasses"

Mr Coutts said that two days later on December 22, Hazeldine saw Mr Creed’s wife Charlene enter a nearby house to visit her husband’s aunt, Valerie James.
Hazeldine is said to have driven his car through a fence and into the garden making a large bang.
Mrs Creed told police he reversed the car into her garden four times and pointed at her saying: “You are all grasses.”
The court heard Hazeldine got out of his car and put his hands around the Valerie James’ throat and squeezed.
