POLICE say they will continue to explore new leads in to the murder of a postman 13 years ago this week.
And officers have pledged to bring the killers of Paul Savage to justice.
The father-of-one was beaten to death with a wooden baton while making his delivery round in Mold on February 4, 2003.
The 30-year-old died in Wrexham’s Maelor Hospital after being found lying beside his delivery bike in the snow on Clayton Road, with his mailbag at his side.
Despite a £100,000 reward, his killers never been caught.
In the weeks following the murder, which took place at about 7.30am near Bryn Gwalia School, police said they had received a huge response to their appeals for information.
They revealed two hooded males had been seen in the area around the time of the incident.
Mr Savage’s murder was also the focus of the BBC Wales TV documentary Wall of Silence.
In 2005, North Wales Police detectives said they knew what the motive was but they were not prepared to release the details.
And in 2010, officers revisited the investigation with the inquiry leading to a fresh search of fields near the murder scene and new items undergoing forensic tests.
Speaking ahead of the anniversary on Thursday, Det Insp Mark Hughes said efforts were still continuing to close the case.
He said: “The investigation into an unsolved murder is never closed and North Wales Police  will continue to explore any new leads and use advances in technology that may help us bring Paul’s killers to justice.”
Mold town councillor Ray Dodd found Mr Savage’s unconscious body lying on the gateway to his house as he left for work.
This was the last mail delivery Mr Savage ever made.
Speaking in 2013, retired Det Chief Supt Chris Corcoran said he believed some people in Mold knew who killed Mr Savage.
“For the sake of the local community in Mold, this needs to be solved,” he said.
“Some people in the community have the answer.
“They know exactly what’s gone on. They know the people involved.”
Anyone with information should contact police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
