Two men on the hunt for cigarettes spat in the face of a man who refused - after abusing his Welsh accent.
Police were called after the disgusting attack which took place on Oldham Street in Manchester city centre shortly before 8.30pm on Wednesday night.
The men abused the man’s Welsh accent, officers said.
A city centre police spokesman said: “We were called at 8.25pm by a man who said he was asked for a cigarette by two men walking past.

“When he said ‘no’ they began to abuse his Welsh accent. One man then spat in the victim’s face.”
City centre police tweeted about the incident, the Manchester Evening News reported.
“Hate crime overnight Oldham St. Victim refuses request from stranger for cigarette, and is then abused and spat at because of Welsh accent.”
Police are investigating the incident and are looking through CCTV to find the culprits.
Victim support is also ongoing.
