A crown court judge refused bail for a 27-year-old man on a family visit from Australia who is accused of wounding with intent in a Boxing Day incident at a Penmaenmawr pub.
The Crown Prosecution Service had appealed after Scott Williams, who has dual Australian and British nationality, was granted bail by magistrates at Llandudno last Saturday on condition he gave up his passports and obeyed an electronically tagged curfew at the home of relatives at Warrington.
He is accused of wounding with intent Jake Pickstock, the 18-year-old son of the landlady of the Bron Eryri pub at Penmaenmawr.
Mr Pickstock has had surgery for a back injury in a specialist hospital unit at Stoke on Trent.
At Caernarfon crown court bail was opposed by Karl Scholz on behalf of the prosecution.
Solicitor Andrew Hutchinson, seeking bail, said Williams lived with his wife and child at Sydney, where he was a mechanic, and they had made a Christmas and New Year visit to relatives in this country.
Judge Geraint Walters said: "For the moment at least the defendant must remain in custody to appear before me on Monday next week."
