This grim picture reveals how overflowing bins are plaguing Gwynedd.
The image shows the extent of the problem in the county with bottles, cardboard and other rubbish strewn around over-filled bins.
A shocked Daily Post reader, Brian Coatesworth snapped the image of bins in a communal area at the Cae Bold flats in Caernarfon.
The debris is also causing misery for residents on the estate with its foul odour.
Brian, who lives in Cae Bold, hit out at Gwynedd Council’s new three week bin collection - and said the recycling bins this week had not been emptied.
He said: “Reading in this week’s Daily Post that the council see no problem with the three weekly bin collection - tell them to visit the Cae Bold flats in Caernarfon.
“There are 17 regular size bins and five large ones - around 4 regulars each - for the 53 family’s on the estate.
“This week’s recycling bins have not been emptied as the recycling crew had one look at the mess and decided not to risk it.
“We still have another four days before the next collection and the photo enclosed is one of four bin areas.”
Residents across the county have expressed their confusion and frustration by the lack of service and missed collections over Christmas and New Year.
Complaints range from food remaining in bins to mouse and rat infestations in the Bethel, Talysarn, Llanrug, Bontnewydd and Caernarfon areas.
Council chiefs blame the recent atrocious weather for sparking problems with collections and stressed any issues were not widespread.
The controversial plans to collect household waste just once every three weeks were rolled out in the Arfon, Dwyfor and Meirionydd areas of Gwynedd last year despite opposition.
Recyclable products and food waste collections remain unaffected.
However, data shows the three-weekly bin collections in parts of Gwynedd has slashed the amount of waste being sent to landfill.
Data released for November 2015 - five months after the new waste collections arrangements were introduced in Meirionydd - shows a 23% drop in rubbish collected and a 30% increase in food waste collected during the same period.
Gwynedd Council have been approached for comment.
