Anthony Roche subjected his young victim to years of rape and sexual assaults
A JUDGE has sentenced a man who repeatedly raped and sexually assaulted a young boy to 20 years in prison, telling him he "revelled in sadomasochistic sex with children" and had caused profound and lasting harm to his victim.
Anthony Malcolm Roche subjected the youngster to years of abuse, including forcing him to walk around naked on a dog lead and chaining him to a bed.
When police raided the 53-year-old's house in Swansea they found pages of writing where he re-lived what he had done to the boy more a decade ago.
Roche, of Lon Carreg Bica, Birchgrove, had denied seven counts of child rape and 14 counts of indecent assault but had been found guilty following a trial at Swansea Crown Court when he appeared in the dock today for sentencing.
The court heard Roche was living in the Swansea Valley when he abused the young boy, repeatedly raping and sexually assaulting him, humiliating and degrading him and calling him his "slave" and his "pet".

On occasions Roche would make his victim wear a dog collar and would lead him around on a leash, as well as making him dress in a girl's school uniform.
He also forced the boy to smoke cannabis.
When Roche was arrested in 2013 police found pages of writing which detailed abusive and sexual scenarios that matched what the victim said had happened years before — Janet Gedrych, for the prosecution, said his was Roche re-living what he considered to be his "glory days".
Judge Tom Crowther QC said Roche's behaviour was "shocking and pitiless".
He told the defendant: "You revel in and lust after sadomasochistic sex with children.
"The harm you did could scarcely be greater — the effects have been devastating.
"Children should be allowed to develop at their own pace, not be subjected to the sordid fantasies of men like you.
"Such is the risk you present, you must have a very lengthy sentence."
He added: "I am sure you are a dangerous man."
The judge jailed Roche for a total of 20 years, and said he would be put on the sex offenders register for the rest of his life.
