Aiden Christopher Murphy, 22, and Levi Azarias Whightman, 21, who also stole the victim's TV and a games console, were jailed for six years each
Two drunken thugs who held a knife to a teenager’s throat during a prolonged early-hours ordeal at his home have been jailed for six years each.
Aiden Christopher Murphy, 22, of Queensway, Wrexham , and Levi Azarias Whightman, 21, of no fixed address, also stole the 18-year-old’s television set and a games console.
They had denied robbery but were found guilty by a jury at Caernarfon Crown Court in January.
Sentence had been adjourned for reports.
Jailing both men, Judge Huw Rees said: “The jury heard a detailed account of the threats and violence you inflicted on a vulernable young man.
“He was in bed asleep and your intention was to bully and scare him and take his possessions which were valuable to him.
“You were in it together and are jointly responsible for bullying this young man at knifepoint.
“The jury had the good sense to see through that and properly convict you.”
The court heard the incident happened at Llys y Gwynt, a supported housing unit in Holyhead, on September 9 last year.
Murphy and Whightman went into the victim’s room while he was asleep and woke him up, the court heard.
During the incident, they punched him to the head and chest and, at one point, Whightman threw a toy gun at the victim.
Murphy was also said to have tried to suffocate the victim.
A cake knife had been found in a kitchen and both men were said to have handled it at various times.
Whightman was said to have held it against the victim’s throat and to have repeatedly stabbed the mattress.
Sion ap Mihangel, for Murphy, said “Neither appreciated the seriousness of what they were doing and alcohol is at the root of my client’s offending.
“While in custody, he will have time to reflect and decide his direction in life after release.”
Duncan Bould, for Whightman, echoed Mr ap Mihangel’s comments, noting that his client had admitted to a probation officer: “I know I was in the wrong.”
Both barristers argued their clients were still young men and it would be their first experience of custody.
