Ruthin,North Wales - Serial Ruthin flasher who exposed himself to females in Chester is jailed

Daniel Stennett, 36, who struggled to control his sexual urges, left victims feeling wary around male strangers, court told

A flashed who travelled 25 miles from Ruthin to Chester to expose himself to young women has been jailed.
Daniel Stennett, 36, who struggles to interact with the opposite sex and control his sexual urges, repeatedly flashed at young women – including two aged 14 – in and around the Hoole area of the city last summer.
Stennett admitted four counts of exposure between July and August 2016 when he appeared before Chester Crown Court today (March 29).
The court heard how he would drive from his former home in Ruthin to Chester to commit his crimes.
On one occasion on Hoole Lane, he shouted at a woman in her late 20s ‘oi, do you want to have a good time’ as he performed a sex act on himself with his trousers open.
A 17-year-old girl became his next victim two weeks later when he exposed himself to her at Old Hall Gardens.
Then one month later Stennett committed two offences in one evening.
The first one saw him target two 14-year-old schoolgirls as they walked their dog in the area of Brook Lane before exposing himself to a woman on Faulkner Street just 90 minutes later.
In impact statements read aloud to the court, Stennett’s victims – who cannot be named for legal reasons – told of how they feel wary around male strangers now, the Chester Chronicle reports.

The 17-year-old has recently been diagnosed with stress-related anxiety triggered by the offence and revealed she is often ‘scared’ thinking about what could have happened and what his intentions may have been.
Stennett, now of Fulham Way in Ipswich, already has a criminal record for indecent assault and exposure dating from 1999 to 2003.
His barrister Gareth Roberts explained that Stennett accepts what he has done is ‘very wrong’.
“He accepts that he has a problem in the way he interacts with women and copes with various sexual urges,” said Mr Roberts.
“He is totally ashamed and remorseful for the way he has behaved.
“He tells me that his lapses follow periods of stress and instability in his life, but he knows that is not a good excuse.
“Last summer he lost the ability to control it.”
The court was told Stennett has since moved back to his hometown of Ipswich to live with his mother and has voluntarily been seeing a sexual offence counsellor for the past six months.
His Honour Judge Simon Berkson handed him a four-month sentence, two of which are to be served in custody and the remaining half on licence.
He said: “All your offences caused alarm and distress as well as upset to your victims.
“The fact that there are four separate offences, and the age of some of your victims, are aggravating factors.”
Stennett must also sign the sex offenders register for seven years.
