PEMBREY,South Wales - 'Outrageous' attack on housemate after wedding leaves victim with fractured nose and jaw

The attacker had to be subdued by police with incapacitant spray

A PEMBREY man who attacked his housemate after a wedding party, repeatedly punching him in the face and leaving him bleeding from the mouth and nose, has been jailed.
When police arrived Christopher Jones tried to stop them entering the house to see his victim, grappling with police in the hallway.
Swansea Crown Court heard 24-year-old Jones and his partner had been at a wedding in Burry Port in July last year with his friend and housemate, a man in his 50s.
Tom Scapens, prosecuting, said Jones was argumentative during the evening and in the end the trio left the wedding.
The arguing continued when they got back to his victim’s house in Silver Terrace in Burry Port , and the householder – concerned about the impact on his neighbours – asked the couple to keep the noise down.
The court heard Jones then attacked his housemate, punching him in the head and causing him to fall to the floor where he continued to strike him.
Jones’ partner told him to stop, but he replied: “Shut up, or you will be having it too”.
The prosecutor said neighbours who heard the disturbance were so concerned about what was going on, they called the police.
When officers arrived Jones tried to stop them entering the property, telling them he wouldn’t let them in without a warrant and they trying to physically block their entrance and kicking out at them.
The court heard he became increasingly aggressive and had to be subdued with Pava incapacitant spray.
His behaviour continued in a similar vein in the back of the police van when he repeatedly spat in the vehicle.
Subsequent scans showed his victim sufferd fractures to the jaw and nose.
The victim told police he considered Jones a friend, and felt betrayed by what had happened.
Jones, of Ar-y-Bryn, Pembrey, pleaded guilty to inflciting grievous bodily harm and to criminal damage, caused when he spat inside a police van - when he appeared in the dock.
James Hartson, for Jones, said his client was “genuinely remorseful” for what he had done.
He said “emotions had been running high” on the night of the wedding, but that his client’s reaction to being told to keep the noise down had been “excessive and unlawful”.
The barrister said Jones had lost his job as a customer relations agent for Virgin Media following the incident, but was hoping to retrain as a mortgage advisor.
Judge Geraint Walters told Jones his behaviour had been “outrageous” and would have an ongoing impact on his victim.
He sentenced Jones to a total of 12 months in prison, and made him the subject of a restraining order banning him from contacting his victim for five years.
