Conwy,North Wales - Schoolgirl chases pupils with knife in lunch break 'incident'

Police and school chiefs at Ysgol Y Creuddyn in Conwy county are investigating after Year 7 child pulled the knife

A schoolgirl brandished a knife at a Conwy secondary school before approaching a group of pupils in the yard.
School chiefs at Ysgol Y Creuddyn in Penrhyn Bay , near Llandudno , said they were investigating the “incident” at Wednesday lunchtime.
A number of parents contacted the Daily Post to report that a knife had been brought to school by a Year 7 pupil.
Part of the incident was captured on a mobile phone video camera and pupils were warned not to share this on social media.
One parent said she was contacted by the school after her son was chased by the girl with the kitchen knife in her hand.
They were told a knife was involved and that the school were dealing with the situation.
It is understood the girl had earlier shown other pupils the knife in a PE changing room.
There were unconfirmed reports from parents she had also held the knife to the throat of another pupil.
Sources said at lunchtime she then took the knife out of her bag and approached a group of boys in the schoolyard.
They scattered as she walked towards them with the knife in her hand.
She then walked after the boys who ran from the scene before it is understood teachers then intervened.
The girl was removed from the school.
One parent said: “I was shocked when the school told me, you expect your child to be safe in school.”
Parents are now keen to know what action will be taken by the school.
After being contacted for a statement by the Daily Post, Ann Davies, business manager at the school, said: “I can confirm that an incident did take place at lunchtime today.
“Staff managed the situation professionally and in-line with agreed protocols.
“The matter is being dealt with in-line with the school’s behaviour policy and Local Authority guidelines.”
West Conwy Coastal police inspector Kelly Isaacs said: “I can confirm an incident from the school has been reported to us – there are no wider public safety issues and there will be a police and education investigation into the issue.
“No child was arrested.”
