Peris Griffiths - who told a probation officer he had 'had his fun' with his young victim - must serve 16 years inside for his crimes
A pervert caged for a campaign of rape which destroyed his schoolgirl victim's life has had his too lenient sentence increased by senior judges.
Peris Griffiths subjected his young victim to degrading sex attacks and then shared photos of his evil behaviour with fellow deviants on the web.
Griffiths' crimes took a shattering toll on the schoolgirl, Lady Justice Rafferty told London's Appeal Court today.
The ordeal effectively "destroyed her life", said the judge, causing "severe psychological harm".
"There was an element of degradation and humiliation involved," she added.
Griffiths, of Llwyn y Gog, Llanfairfechan, regularly communicated with fellow paedophiles, "advising them on how to encourage young children into sexual activity", the court heard.
"He traded in indecent pictures," added the judge.
The 45-year-old was originally jailed for 12 years - with a four-year extended licence period - at Caernarfon Crown Court in January after he admitted a string of sex crimes, including nine rapes and possessing and distributing indecent photos.
But Griffiths' case reached the Appeal Court as lawyers for the Solicitor General, Robert Buckland QC, challenged his "unduly lenient" sentence.
They urged the court to substitute a life sentence to reflect the "planning and degradation" involved.
Lady Justice Rafferty, sitting with Mrs Justice Cheema-Grubb and Judge Jeffrey Pegden QC, said there was evidence of some remorse from Griffiths, who had no previous convictions.
But he had shown little insight into his crimes, even telling a probation officer: "I've had my fun but I'm not intending to do it again".
Despite the horror of his crimes, Lady Justice Rafferty refused to impose a life sentence.
"We are not persuaded that this chronicle of offending merited life," she told the court.
But the three judges went on to increase Griffiths' jail sentence from 12 to 16 years, ruling that his original punishment was "insufficient to mark the gravity of the offending".
Griffiths' extended licence period, during which he will be carefully monitored after release, was doubled to eight years.
