Craig Farrugia also pulled a clump of hair out of another woman's head and struck her
A man smashed a bathroom window as his terrified ex-girlfriend and their son hid inside - and shouted threats that he would ‘slice her up’.
Craig Anthony Farrugia had gone to the home in Grovesend, Swansea, on Friday evening, March 17, and demanded to see his former partner.
Swansea Magistrates’ Court heard that after he left the property, so too did his ex-girlfriend, but when she returned she noticed the bathroom window open with items on the windowsill having been knocked over.
Prosecuting, Lisa Jones told the court that Farrugia, of Danybryn Road in Gorseinon, was inside the property, and came downstairs ‘shouting and screaming’, prompting a female family member to push the ex-girlfriend and her four-year-old son into a bathroom for safety.
Lisa Jones said Farrugia had then shouted: “I will get you, I will slice you up”.
“They tried to reason with him, but he continued shouting with his arms flailing and said he looked possessed,” said Ms Jones.
Farrugia was then said to have attempted to drag the other woman by her hair, so that a clump of her hair came out, and then hit her with his open palm.
He then smashed the bathroom window, with his ex and and their child inside, as he continued to shout his threats, and cut himself on the glass.
“There were serious concerns over their safey,” added Ms Jones.
“Their son was crying and it was heartbreaking to witness”.
The court heard his victim told police officers after the incident: “I can’t believe what happened. I never thought Craig would do something like this.
“I am concerned not just for my safety, but for the safety of my son and my mother. My son wakes up having nightmares about his father”.
Mitigating, Craig Harding said: “It does not make comfortable listening, and he has apologised for what has gone on.
“There have been issues with their son, and he feels she has been using their son as a weapon.
“Contact had been agreed and when that was withdrawn he responded wholly beyond the pale, but he was intoxicated at the time”.
Farrugia, aged 25, pleaded guilty to assault and two charges of harrassment by breaching a restraining order, as well as criminal damage.
Chairman of magistrates Ceri Richards remanded him in custody until his sentencing at Swansea Crown Court on April 18.
