Police were called to a property in Dowlais on Tuesday morning
A man has been charged with attempted murder after another man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Robert Jones, 45, of Penydarren, will appear before Merthyr Magistrates Court on Thursday morning.
South Wales Police were called shortly after 10am on Tuesday to a property in Dowlais, in Merthyr Tydfil, in response to reports of an assault.
A 35-year-old man remains at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff where he is in a serious but stable condition.
