Anglesey,North Wales - A man who gave woman a lift accused of touching and photographing her while she slept

Daniel Joseph Reilly, 58, of Moreton Road, Holyhead, denies charges of sexual assault and voyeurism

A man who gave a woman a lift after a night out later touched her inappropriately and took photos of her while she was sleeping, a jury heard today.
Daniel Joseph Reilly, who claims he took the photographs as a prank and would have shown them to her later, denies charges of sexual assault and voyeurism and is standing trial at Caernarfon Crown Court.
The 58-year-old, of Moreton Road, Holyhead, also had a photo on his phone from 2012 which showed the woman asleep and was taken without her knowledge.
Prosecutor David Mainstone said Reilly had known the woman for a number of years.
On April 17 last year, the woman and a friend had been out in Bangor, missed the last train home, and been given a lift to Holyhead by Reilly.
During the journey, Reilly learned that the woman had had to take off her underwear after the elastic snapped during the night out.
“While this was something they had laughed about rather than a case of embarrassment, it may have been the catalyst for the later incident,” said Mr Mainstone.
It was after the woman fell asleep that Reilly is alleged to have taken the photos and touched the woman inappropriately, the court heard.
“She was asleep and suddenly felt cold and found the duvet had been lifted from her legs,” said Mr Mainstone.
“She then became aware of a clicking sound and then felt a cold hand touch her private parts.
“She shifted her body to indicate to the person that she was awake.
“Fully awake, she realised the only person that could have been responsible was the defendant.”
After speaking to her mother, the woman alerted police and Reilly was arrested.
During interviews with detectives, Reilly admitted he had taken the photographs but claimed he had taken them as a prank and had intended to show them to the woman.
Giving evidence, the woman said that, a few weeks before the alleged incident, she had lost her phone and asked to borrow Reilly’s to call her number.
When she dialled the number, the photo of her asleep from 2012 appeared as his contact photo for her.
She had challenged him about it as she could not recall it being taken nor had she ever seen it.
The trial continues.
