Customer claims the man had been wrongly parked in a 'parent and child' bay
A parking warden was allegedly attacked when trying to issue a man with a £60 fine for flouting parking rules.
The warden was trying to issue a charge to the man, believed to be in his late 20s, when the attacker got angry, grabbed him by his jacket and hurled him into a trolley bay.
A Rhyl mum who had been shopping at the Sainsbury's supermarket saw the whole thing.
She had just finished in the store when she started talking to the parking warden who was patrolling the car park.
She told the Daily Post: "I was just making conversation as I was going to get in my car.
"And I asked him how much a fine was (for not parking correctly) and he said £60.
"So I asked him how do you know if someone is not with a child?
"He told me he had seen someone go into the shop on his own after parking and was waiting for him to get out.
"I saw him take a few pictures of the car.
"I got in my car and I was just about to leave when I saw it kick off, the man attacked the ticket issuer slamming him into a trolley bay.
"I shouted over to stop it and the inspector asked me to get the other security.
"So I drove as quick as I could to the front of Sainsbury's and went in and managed to find someone.
"When I got back the man had got in his car and sped off."
She added: "The inspector was just doing his job and was physically assaulted by a man parked where he shouldn't have been as he had no child."
A North Wales Police spokeswoman said: "We have been given reports a man had been assaulted at the car park at Sainsbury's in Rhyl at 3.58pm today.
"It was a minor assault and no one suffered serious injuries.
"We are aware and are investigating."
Horizon Parking, who run parking enforcement for Sainsbury's, have been approached for comment.
