A NEWSAGENT said she is "living in fear" after a robber threatened to return to her family's shop.
Yesterday (Wednesday) a man entered Clifton House Newsagents on Mostyn Street, Llandudno, and threatened a female shop assistant with a knife before making off with cash and cigarettes.
Elaine Pritchard, shop owner, said her daughter was working behind the till at the time of the incident. The robbery has left her daughter shaken and not wanting to return to work.
Mrs Pritchard said: "It's put real fear into her. She's worked here all of her life since she was 11. She is 24 now.
"My daughter feels she heard the man saying he will be back.
"What this man has put my daughter through is wicked and cowardly. I'm so angry."
An hour prior to the incident, Mrs Pritchard said the man was roaming around the shop looking through the window and at one point had his head in his hands.
"It sounds to me as if he was conflicted about what he was about to do, like he was desperate. The fact that he was loitering around gives me hope though. Hope that people can help identify him."
Mrs Pritchard, who has ran the shop for 13 years, was first notified of the robbery when her daughter rang her screaming and crying.
"All I could make out was the word robbed. I told my son to ring the police and headed straight over to the shop.
"I wasn't concerned about the money, all I was thinking about was her safety.
"We've had thefts before but never a robbery."
The police arrived within 10 minutes of Mrs Pritchard's son's phone call to take fingerprints and inspect the scene.
Mrs Pritchard said: "I'm grateful to the police for arriving so promptly and helping to calm my daughter down after going through what was obviously a terrible event."
Inspector Kelly Isaacs said: “We are appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity at the time of the incident or who may be offered Mayfair King Size cigarettes and Golden Virginia tobacco for sale to contact police.”
