The court heard the 21-year-old has six previous convictions for nine offences, including one from June last year when he was given a suspended prison sentence for possessing the drug mephedrone with intent to supply.
Andrew Evans, in mitigation, said his client was a vulnerable young man with an "extremely troubled background" who had been diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.
The advocate added: "One hopes that at the age of 21 this defendant, with the right support, guidance and positive role models, can make something of his life."
Sangha was sentenced to 18 months in prison suspended for 12 months, and made the subject of a 30-day rehabilitation requirement. An order was made to destroy the seized drugs and paraphernalia, and to confiscate the £970.
Recorder Jonathan Ferris told the defendant he had concerns about cannabis being categorised as a Class B drug, saying that it had a serious impact on young people.
